Hair: When it comes to maintenance, your Maltipoo will require very minimal attention. You only need to brush your dog once per week. This dog breed is hypoallergenic, which means that they shed meager amounts of hair. Therefore, if you have health conditions such as asthma or other breathing issues, it can make your life much more comfortable. Bathe your dog whenever necessary, as they emit low body odor.

Ears: You need to check your dog's ears per-week and therefore perform cleaning if necessary. This will help in avoiding infection because they have floppy ears that enhance the growth of mold.

Teeth: Teeth brushing should be done at least two to three times per week (in case you cannot perform the same daily). This will help in preventing all kinds of periodontal issues, which may lead to tooth loss.

Eyes: You should proceed to gently wipe your dog's eyes every day, which will keep its eyes healthy and clean looking.

Nails: Apart from that, toenail trimming should be done once every few months. Ensure that you don't cut the nails too short, which may lead to bleeding.

Recommended Daily Amount: The daily recommended amount is about 5/8 to 1-1/2 cups of high-quality dry dog food.

What Food To Choose: Always choose to go with high-quality dog food from a reputed manufacturer with balanced nutrients. It should have the perfect amount of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

How To Keep Good Shape: The amount of food your dog will eat will depend on its overall size, metabolism, build, and activity level. Dogs should be treated as individuals, just like humans - which means each dog will have its own specific needs. An active dog will require more food per-day than a lazy dog. You can keep your dog in good shape by measuring his/her food every day and not letting him/her overeat, which may lead to overweight.

How Many Times To Feed Your Dog: It's suggested that you feed your dog at least two times per day.

Maltipoo Breed History

The Maltipoo was created by the hybridization of two well-known dog breeds - the Maltese and the Toy Poodle. It should be noted that the Maltese is one of the oldest dog breeds, tracing back to almost 3500 BC in Malta, Italy. It was first rediscovered in England in 1859 and was brought to the USA in 1877. The American Kennel Club recognized the dog in 1963.

Alternatively, the Toy Poodle was first discovered in the 15th century and was used for retrieval and hunting needs. It was recognized by The Kennel Club of England in 1874, after which they were brought to the USA. The American Kennel Club recognized the dog breed in 1886. As a result, the Maltipoo dog breed was produced after that.
