Keeshond:Dog Breed Profile

The name of Keeshond comes from two of the most common names used by Patriots or Dutch people: Jan Kees. The Dutch Fur Shih Tzu is a typical Fox dog and is often used as a guard dog on canal boats, so it is also called the Dutch boat dog. By the time of the Victorian era in England, the dog had also been given a slightly teasing and ironic name: Fat Pomeranian. The dog is cheerful, friendly, very approachable, medium size, does not take up much space, used to live mainly in the canal boat, they used to curl up into a round body, is to try to take up less space, very smart. The poodle is very loyal to its owner.

  • About Keeshond Breed

The Keeshond was bred as a working dog in its early days. It was often used as a guard dog on canal boats, hence the name of the Dutch boat dog. The dog is so much like a Pomeranian that it has been nicknamed the Fat Pomeranian by humans. The Keeshond is a medium-sized, square-shaped, muscular dog that is neither coarse nor light. The ideal shoulder height for a mature male is 18 inches; that for a mature female is 17 inches, give or take an inch. The correct size is very important, size can not go beyond this range. Facial expressions rely on a unique feature called “glasses” .

Keeshond Breed Daily Care

When we give a Keeshond a bath, we should put it in a big and comfortable bathtub, adjust the temperature of the water (a little higher than the human bath temperature is appropriate) , the dog will be wet and wet. After getting the Pooch all wet, we’re going to start applying the bath fluid (use a protein bath for your pet’s fur care, keep in mind) . When we wash a Dutch poodle, it’s not like we wash ourselves. We usually wash our hair first, but for a baby dog, the bath fluid starts from the upper part of the body, this prevents the bath fluid from running into their eyes by wiping their heads first.

If you want to make your dog’s hair shine, you can add protein-rich foods, vitamin c/e supplements, seaweed foods, and vegetables every day, lean meats, cooked egg yolks, and vegetable oils are also available. Foods like those high in sugar, salt, and starch should be eaten as little or as little as possible. Generally obese dogs are less hairy than healthy ones, so keep your dog’s weight under control and follow a nutritious diet plan.

In order to make the hair of the Keeshond beautiful and shiny, many people choose to give the dog to eat kelp, or a small amount of vinegar, there are people to coat with protein and so on. Actually, I’d like to say that these methods don’t work very well. For example, the use of protein smear, once dry, hair prone to furcation, fracture, which will lead to hair damage, resulting in more dull hair luster, serious and even cause dermatitis or skin disease.

Because the  Keeshond has a very strong memory, it can basically remember the instructions given by its owner in the first place, and it is very alert, good at observing things around, attention to detail, is a very good guard dog, it’s easy to train.

Taking care of a Keeshond poodle is a bit of a hassle. After all, unlike humans, dogs can feed themselves, and their owners must take care of them for the rest of their lives, although the Dutch poodle is not fussy about food, we certainly want our dogs to be healthy and beautiful. The main food for dogs is usually dog food.

Keeshond Breed History

In the 18th century, the Keeshond was considered the “dog of the people, ” a symbol of resistance to the rule of King William. The low tide in the breeding of the Dutch poodle lasted for many, many years until 1920, when Van, the Duchess of Nantes, became so interested in the ancient breed that she conducted an investigation, to see how many are left of this ancient breed. The results of the survey were startling, to say the least.

Although the dog is no longer in the spotlight, fortunately it is still in its original form, and the owners of the Dutch poodle are mainly canal captains, farmers and truckers, there are some very good Dutch poodles. The owners even maintain a pedigree of the breed. The duchess then began breeding Dutch fur dogs and spreading the breed throughout Europe. In just over a decade, she has taken the breed to a whole new level: The Dutch dog club was founded, and in 1933 the Dutch code of breed identification was adopted by the Dutch Dereadvancebeopkynologis’ Chgebeid. In fact, the Dutch poodle appeared in England as early as 1925 and made a good impression on locals. By 1930, the Dutch poodle was recognized and registered by the American Kennel Club. With a few exceptions, most of the Dutch fur dogs that appear in the United States are mainly imported from the United Kingdom, which in turn is imported from the Netherlands and Germany.
